Course Outline
The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to engage meaningfully with children and young people during policy development and service design.

Participants will explore the principles and a range of methods to engage with children and young people. Participants will also have the opportunity to plan an engagement with children and young people in a learning environment.

Aimed at
This session is aimed at staff involved in policy making/designing services

Course objectives
By the end of the module participants will be able to:
• Identify their attitudes and feelings towards children and young people
• Identify policies and services that impact on children and young people’s lives
• Apply the elements of participation to their work
• Describe the strategic approaches to including children and young people
• List the appropriate methods for engaging with children and young people
• Apply the process of engaging children and young people in their work
