Training
The Participation Network offers a range of FREE training modules to the public sector on including children and young people in public decision making.
Training events are held at Children in Northern Ireland’s premises at Unit 9, 40 Montgomery Road, Belfast, BT6 9HL on the specified dates.

Module 1: Why should we?
This session is from 9.30 am-1.00 pm and provides participants with the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of why they should engage with children and young people during policy development and service design.
This session is aimed at:
- Senior Managers
- Chief Executives
- Senior Civil Servants
- Directors
- Staff involved in policy making/designing services
It is recommended that participants attend this session before moving onto Module 2.
Including children and young people in public decision making
Module 2: How can we?
This session is from 9.30 am-3.30 pm and provides participants with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to engage meaningfully with children and young people during policy development and service design.
Participants will explore the principles and a range of methods to engage with children and young people. Participants will also have the opportunity to plan an engagement with children and young people in a learning environment.
This session is aimed at staff involved in policy making/designing services.
Lunch is provided for full day sessions. However, we are unable to cater for any special dietary requirements.
In addition to Module 1 and 2, a one day combined training course or shorter workshop can be delivered directly to your organisation. Training can be designed and delivered to meet the specific needs of your organisation.
